Based on the 1980s television series starring Edward Woodward and adapted into a screenplay by Richard Wenk (16 Blocks), The Equalizer stars Washington as Robert McCall, a former black ops commando trying to live a normal, anonymous life in Boston after faking his own death. When he becomes involved with a young woman (Chloe Moretz) in trouble with the Russian mafia, however, he can't help himself but get sucked back into his old ways helping the helpless against overpowering authority.
If you guys were hoping that Washington would be coming back to play a character aswild and crazy as Training Day's Det. Harris, you may be sadly disappointed by this trailer. McCall seems like a very even-headed, calm character who just so happens has the ability to take out a room of five guys in under 20 seconds. When you really think about it, along with the fact that he is helping to protect a young white girl, it's not hard to make comparisons between this film and Tony Scott's Man on Fire:
This trailer, which comes to us via Trailer Addict, gives us a pretty good look at The Equalizer, but it's still going to be a little while until we get to see it. Sony plans to have it in theaters on September 26th.
