The day after Sunday’s G-Unit reunion at Hot 97′s Summer Jam, the 50 Cent-fronted rap crew has released its first song in six years with the new track “Nah I’m Talking Bout”.
The song's not entirely original. It’s a remix of Hit Boy and his HS87 crew’s “Grindin My Whole Life” with 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Tony Yayo and Kidd Kidd all giving it their lyrical treatments. But just getting the old gang back together at all could be considered good cause for celebration.
That Time Beyoncé Stepped to 50 Cent: Watch
As Fif explained on the Breakfast Club radio show Friday, his album “Animal Ambition” that’s out Tuesday will be his first self-released record on his G-Unit Records label (via Caroline and Capitol Records). And this has the hip hopentrepreneur hustling harder than usual on promotion, arranging G-Unit reunion like this. (But not his horrible opening pitch for The Mets last week — that was an accident, he revealed.)
Noticeably — but unsurprisingly — absent from the reunion is The Game, who was dismissed from the group following mounting tensions that turned to gunplay with 50 Cent.
50 Cent on G-Unit Reunion Rumors: 'I Decide That'
Last year, The Game started an online petition on his Facebook page for fans to vote for a G-Unit reunion. Yayo said then he would love to see a reunion but not with The Game or Young Buck. 50 Cent’s opinion was pretty strongly against it back then.
“You're not gonna get nothing back together. I decide that. I do what I want to do. I don't give a fuck what they talking about on a blog post," he told AOL’s The Boombox, addressing the disrespect within the group. “What would you say if I actually did put it together and then it fell apart right in front of you? Or if I bring them around each other and their feelings from a long time — the disrespect and the talking — bleed over into the people that are just around them and then one of them gets shot and killed, or one of them gets stabbed and hurt bad. Then what?"
Seems safe to assume this reunion is under Fif's terms.
